800 Hour

’m an 800-Hour certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher, registered as an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, and the author of the upcoming book, 8 Life Lessons From The Bhagavad-gita. Having a life-long interest in yoga, meditation, and eastern spiritual philosophy, I lived full-time in devotional yoga ashrams and intentional spiritual communities from 1977 to 1982. I was formally initiated into the Gaudiya Vaisnava lineage of Bhakti Yoga in 1978 and, after years of teaching meditation and philosophy along with maintaining a personal yoga practice, I began teaching yoga classes in 2009. My yoga philosophy workshops include a high level of active participation, discussion, and discovery that inspire a full engagement and exploration of how ancient knowledge can be practically applied to our lives in the modern world. I also design Yoga Teacher Training courses and am a frequent guest-teacher for numerous Yoga Teacher Training programs. I live and teach in Washington, DC and offer workshops throughout the Northeastern United States. I also lead kirtans as a part of DC Supersonic Kirtan, lead yoga pilgrimages to India, write articles for teachasana.com andNomadYOGI, and blog about the relevance of traditional yoga philosophy in the contemporary world on my website: hari-kirtana.com.
