WHAT PARTICIPANTS SAID ABOUT THE JIVAMUKTI ASHRAM EXPERIENCE

"There isn’t much Jivamukti Yoga in person where I live and teach, so coming to the Ashram for daily practice and satsang was a big deal for me. And it changed my life! I have been happier and my practice has been so much stronger since I returned from the Ashram. I made friends I can't wait to see again, we still text a lot and take each other's classes online. I completely re-fell in love with the Jivamukti Method and was deeply inspired by the teachers I met there. I hope all Jivamukti teachers and students get to have an experience like this, you won't want to leave!"
"All the staff has been very welcoming and supportive. I loved their energy and we had many sweet moments together and great inspiring conversations. They do a great job and are always available to us and responsive to our requests if needed. Great Team!"
"I loved the yoga Program! The classes were pretty challenging and intense for me because I am not used to practicing every day. I enjoyed it nonetheless. The almost 3 hours in the morning were perfect to start the day. Very well balanced between meditation and Asanas practice. Great Music too! The alternation between teachers was refreshing and kept me always engaged, they were different and did complement each other."
"I felt this was a necessary challenge my life had been calling for. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually."
"This was a true yoga immersion experience and not just days with more than usual practice. I feel the intentions of the yogic way were expressed in truth through the teachings."
"One off the most beautiful parts of the experience was being gifted with love-prepared vegan meals each day. It’s so nice to have the clean meals where someone else has figured them out and cooked them."

TRAVEL

To reach Agricola Samadhi, most students choose to fly to Bari or Brindisi. Brindisi is closer, about 50 km, Bari is about 2 hours by car or you can take the train from Bari to the local station which is quite close to the center. Airport transfer is organized by YIS reception team, you can email them your arrival details directly at info@yogainsalento.com once you have them.

ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATIONS

We follow the principle given to us by Radhanath Swami: Simple living, high thinking. Accommodations are comfortable, yet simple. Bring what you need for study and practice, leave the rest behind.

Double and Triple rooms. Single rooms are very limited and will likely be reserved for guests with special needs. You can book the double room for yourself for a higher fee.

Agricola Samadhi is mixing tradition and innovation both with its offerings and form: two elegant antique buildings from the early 20th century are near recently renovated buildings, surrounded by a green park, immersed in the sound of the wind between the magnificent fronds of the palms and the song of the birds and the hum of the cicadas.

Decide whether to relax along the edge of our large, fresh pool, enjoy an Ayurvedic treatment, a Thai or Shiatzu massage, enjoy the wind caressing the fronds of the palms as you relax in a hammock, walk the 10 hectares of the property or go discover Salento: there’s time for nature walks, artistic excursions, trekking, bicycle tours, and sails!

KLARA PUSKI

Arrival Day: Sat Nov 5
Yoga Intensive with Klara Puski: Sun Nov 6 – Fri Nov 11
Depart/Arrive/Stay: Sat Nov 12

Klara is a Jivamuki teacher based in Paris. Dancing since the age of five, she was always fascinated by the physical body & movement she completed her education at the Hungarian Dance Academy in classical ballet in Budapest and continued to work as a professional dancer. Then in early 2013 she tried Jivamukti Yoga in Munich which was a transformational discovery in which she happily remains immersed. By May 2014, she completed her teacher training in New York, with Jivamukti Yoga founders Sharon Gannon and David Life, mentored by Giselle Mari. Since returning Klara has been leading classes around different studios in Paris. She feels blessed to be able to teach and equally sees it as an opportunity to serve, share and learn. Finding an honest space through intelligent sequencing is what yoga represent for her. Creating a deeper connection with the present moment and allow ourselves to pause to reflect is what fascinates her. Feeling the moment in it’s depth to create a transformation. “All of these practices lead us to the realization that this physical vehicle is “just that”, to carry the eternal spirit , which is the eternal piece that is life itself, and we all have that, all living things have it , the question is how do we recognize that we are all the same? How to honour myself the same way as I honour all living beings around? We all do the best we can while we are here”

PETROS HAFFENRICHTER

Arrival Day: Sat Nov 12
Yoga Intensive with Petros Haffenrichter: Sun Nov 13 – Sat Nov 19
Depart/Arrive/Stay: Sun Nov 20, 2022

Petros, a musician, yogi, philosopher, and life-artist is a senior Jivamukti Yoga teacher, opened his first yoga-school in 2002, directed several yoga schools in Germany and runs one of the most renowned Yoga Retreats in Europe / Kretashala, Triopetra in Crete / Greece. He has been a regular guest teacher and performed Kirtan in yoga schools of different traditions around the world and at intl. festivals for many years, teaching and lecturing. Asana, Pranayama, Nada Yoga, and Philosophy. Petro’s honest, funny and challenging teaching inspires to be fully aware in the present moment. So experience comes through intuition and not from a place of personal preference or dislikes. Returning to that place, where, independently from outer circumstance there always is peace: the pure light of the heart. There are many obstacles, yoga gives us the possibility to free ourselves from. So our true nature remains no longer hidden. We really are free, wild, full of love and joy – without conditioning, without fear. He has great gratitude for all teachers, known and unknown, he had the honour to study with and is thankful to all circumstance that give us the chance to experience this feeling of unity, of non-separateness. To learn to accept the greatest of all teachers: our life.

Ian Szydlowski

Arrival Day: Sat Nov 12
Yoga Intensive with Ian Szydlowski: Sun Nov 13 – Sat Nov 19
Depart/Arrive/Stay: Sun Nov 20, 2022

Ian hopes to inspire and serve others by offering an integrated practice and experience of Yoga as he has practiced and understood it from his teachers. Yoga practice not only as an instrument towards liberation– but as liberation in itself – as taught in the exciting tradition of Jivamukti Yoga. Ian loves practicing and teaching Jivamukti. Over many years he attended classes as a student at the center in New York, and this was his daily ritual that complemented his life there for so long, he always wants to share that love. He is indebted to all his many teachers and masters over the years, especially his mentor Rima Rabbath who ultimately showed him such dedication and service that she has inspired Ian to follow on this path as best he may. Ian writes of his vision for teaching, "May yoga be a tool to help us learn to be more receptive in order to nourish our highest potential! Yoga asana not only transforms the physical body, and can lead to radiant health, but working with the other limbs of Yoga can purify our subtlest form and prepare us to be a better vehicle, a better servant, to make of ourselves like a light like the Buddha has said."

WHERE AND HOW

THE Place

The Place: Salento, Italy
Agricola Samadhi is a last generation organic farmhouse located in southern Puglia in the heart of Salento in the Grecia Salentina countryside right in the heart of Zollino, just a few steps from the quaint country train station.

Immersed in the fascinating and authentic atmosphere of Puglia, the Agricola Samadhi farmhouse enjoys a strategic location to discover Salento, just 10 minutes from Lecce and 20 minutes from the most beautiful beaches on the Ionic and Adriatic Seas.

Salento is that portion of Italian land where the West meets the East, point of fusion among ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean; an earth to be discovered, kissed by the sun and by a crystalline sea. Salento is a coffer rich of inestimable treasures: medieval white stone villages built perpendicularly to the sea, innumerable evidences of ancient civilization, country churches, Romanesque Cathedrals, monumental Basilicas, “federician” castles, archaeological areas (dolmen, menhir), uncontaminated oases, millenary olive groves, park and sea reserves, splendid carsic caves, suggestive and unique “Trulli” houses, the Baroque art, sacred and pagan rites, local fairs, feasts, perfumes and tastes and the deliciousness of an authentic and genuine kitchen. The organic farm Agricola Samadhi is surrounded by nature and silence, in the navel of Salento, Zollino, just 10 minutes far from Lecce and 20 minutes far from the beautiful beaches and coves. The only sounds you can hear are the wind, the chirping of birds and the sound of crickets.

Staff and guests are encouraged to save and avoid waste of energy, most rooms have a special key to switch off all the lights in one go.

Agricola Samadhi is an certified organic agritourism destination, certified by ICEA. This means that they do not put pesticides and herbicides in the soil or in the air, do not use any chemicals to push the growing of the products. This implies an important additional arduous work during cultivation and production.

Samadhi Cafe, the Sun Kitchen, is fully-dedicated to a healthy, balanced, organic cookery and is curated by international experts in Natural Cooking vegetarian and vegan.

Depending on what we eat, we experience which are the foods that give us energy, lightness and flexibility and which weigh us, making us rigid and lazy. The health begins from the plate. The food style we follow is essentially made up by fresh food in order to keep the body in balance and the mind clear and lucid. In a word, ‘sattvic’ food that leads to true happiness: vitality, lightness, and satiety, calm mind, a fit physique, a stream of energy that flows in harmony.

What is cultivated, produced and picked goes from the fields directly to our kitchen: seasonal vegetables and fruit. They also self-produce extra virgin organic olive oil, tomato sauce, jams, granola, bread, desserts. In the menu you will not find: white flower, white sugar. They avoid processed food, artificial flavoring, and have a full range of gluten free. What is not produced directly, where and when possible, is sourced from local organic producers.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

"The Three Steps to Sadhana"

See a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower”-William Blake Many spiritual aspirants can think the ordinary and mundane of daily life is stopping them from elevated spiritual endeavors. In fact, it is the opposite. Sharon was taught by her first alchemist teacher that there are 3 steps to Sadhana. These 3 steps focused on learning to cook, learning to clean and learning to grow, nurture and care for plants. These 3 steps can be related to asana in the literal sense-staying focused on what you are doing, but also in a more universal application: your relationship with your life, the basics-what you eat, where you live, the other living things around you. Are you relating in a way that is enhancing or not? Are you getting so far-out that you are forgetting to go far in and pay attention to what is actually happening. An ashram experience is an opportunity to develop your practice, to experience the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Week will include:
- Daily Meditation / Pranayama
- Cooking lessons
- 2 Daily Asana practices (including Yin yoga)
- Satsang
- Gardening / karma yoga

oLGA OSKORBINA + mITCHELL bURNETT

"Meditation for Daily Life"

Choose your seat, Be still, Focus. Through the asana practice, unlock the hips, align the spine and balance the head. Establish the inner stillness through the yogic disciplines of silence, pranayama and self-enquiry. Dissolve distractions and harness the full potential of concentration. We aim to explore the subtle yet powerful benefits of a daily meditation practice that you will take home with you.

KLARA PUSKI + cONOR BYRNES

"The Potency of Practice"

Alignment on every level: we will spend the week diving into the potency of the physical practice, as a mirror for the psychological. We will investigate how asana alignment, filled with awareness, stability, and joy, enables us to grow inward towards the deeper layers of feeling, thinking, and finally being. Using classical scriptures, contemporary science, and the asana practice as an ever deepening root, we will tap into the profound source of this human being, and re-emerge aligned: full of strength, wisdom, kindness, and the unbounding joy of being whole.

PETROS HAFFENRICHTER + iAN SZYDLOWSKI

"Serve the Servants"

One of the definitions of Bhakti is surrender. Yoga philosophy and praxis teach us when humanity learns to serve and honor the devas, the devas, in turn, will cherish and serve humanity. The devas are often translated to gods, goddesses, or angels. In our modern approach to these ideas, we can also see the devas as forces, like the forces of nature, the force of our breath, or our thoughts and emotions. Be prepared to explore surrendering to the flow and learning to serve the emergent divine in all beings. Jivamukti teaches us the best way to support our own liberation is to serve the liberation of others. What better way than an ashram experience to dive deep into: Yoga Sutra, Bhakti Sutra, Bhavagad Gita, and a selection from the Upanishads regarding this theme. We will take with us ideas like Dasanudasas bhakti or how this Vaishnav concept is certainly a perfect practice. Add to your Sadhana some powerful pranayama and kriyas.
