Originally from Zimbabwe, Amrita has been practicing yoga for 16 years and teaching for 11 years. She initially trained in the Sivananda lineage with Yoga Vidya, while living in Cologne, Germany and became a teacher in 2005.
While living in Cologne she met Sharon Gannon and David Life while practicing at Lord Vishnu's Couch Studio. In 2008 she moved to London and began practicing at Jivamukti Yoga London. That same year she flew to the US and completed the Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training at the Omega Institute in Rheinbeck, New York.
Amrita then completed an apprenticeship at Jivamukti Yoga London under the mentorship of Advanced Jivamukti Teacher Emma Henry in 2009.
That same year she moved to Brighton, UK and has been teaching Jivamukti in and around the city at different studios ever since up until the present day, particularly The Yoga Garden yurt studio in West Sussex.
Amrita also obtained a diploma to teach Unity Partner Yoga in 2011 from Unity School, Brighton and is a qualified holistic massage practitioner plus she has a background in ballet and contemporary dance and is a facilitator for specialized group therapy through the Humaniversity in the Netherlands.
Amrita is inspired to bring yogic teachings into a modern, urban context to enrich our busy western lifestyle.
