Lana Sugarman is a Canadian yoga teacher, kirtan artist, and facilitator in yoga teacher training programs. She specializes in Jivamukti, Yin, Meditation, and Mantra. Lana discovered yoga at the age of 15 and dabbled in many styles until she discovered Jivamukti. She fell in love with the richness of the practice and completed her 300 Hour training in 2009 at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. Later that year she studied Yin Yoga with Tracey Soghrati, a 40 hour certification. Lana encourages students to turn their focus inward, go deep, and leave feeling soothed and stretched. Her classes are a mix of expressive asana, hands-on assists, and philosophy. Also a sought after musician and award winning theatre artist, Lana merges her love of sound and Sanskrit with the practice of kirtan. Her study of mantra began in 2004 with Marla Meenakshi Joy of Swaha, in Toronto and she has had the opportunity to play with Dave Stringer, David Newman, Brenda McMorrow, Girish, Lee Harris, and many other traveling chant artists. Lana leads call and response chanting internationally, and has two highly praised albums of mantra music: Invocation (2013) and Reverence (2017). Lana has worked professionally as an actor across Canada and the US and is currently completing her Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre, at Kent State University in Ohio. She believes that creative expression and mindfulness can lead to a rich, harmonious, and fulfilling life.
