Ben was introduced to the practice of yoga at the age of 16 by his father who briefly owned a yoga studio in the Philadelphia area. After graduating high school, Ben went to Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore to study classical guitar performance, where he graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, and Graduate Performance Diploma in classical guitar. As he pursued his degrees, toured, and participated in many international guitar competitions, he also studied and practiced meditation and yoga. In 2005, he spent his summer break at the holistic center Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. He met author and meditation teacher Lama Surya Das there and started practicing meditation on a daily basis, and has since completed numerous silent, intensive meditation retreats with Lama Surya Das. After living in Baltimore for 11 years, he moved to Paris in 2013 out of a love for the city of lights.
After the inevitable difficulties of moving to a new city, country, and continent, Ben realized how important yoga and meditation was to his well being. Seeking to integrate his spiritual practice even more into his personal and professional life, he completed his 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC in July 2014. After finding teaching yoga a wonderful complement to his own practice and his career as a musician, he returned to Omega Institute in May of 2016, where he completed a 300-hour Jivamukti training. Ben brings a candid, joyful, and precise approach to teaching, and through the influence of mentors both musical and spiritual, encourages others to integrate yoga and meditation into their daily lives
