Laila came to Jivamukti in 2002, shortly after moving to NYC from Europe. Her mixed background of Middle Eastern and European heritage opened doors to understanding the diversity and the multi-layered energy of NY as well as that of yoga. She aspires to integrate ancient philosophy with contemporary beliefs, and bring balance and harmony to practitioners through movement, relaxation, music and breath, while allowing space for each person to access their own inner channels of energy and follow their own individual journey.
After several years of yoga practice and energy work she was certified as an 800-Hour Jivamukti Yoga teacher in 2013.
She also holds a BA in English Literature, a Wellness Coach certificate from IIN, as well as kids, prenatal and restorative yoga certifications and a basic aromatherapy certificate.
