DISCOVER JIVAMUKTI YOGA DÜSSELDORF
In conversation with Jivamukti Yoga Düsseldorf Studio Founders, Glikeria Skreka, Helene Harres and Katharina Seeger

1) What inspired you to open a Jivamukti Yoga studio?
We wanted to create a space for our community where students and teachers unite to share their wisdom, teachings and life lessons. It is a gathering of Jivanmuktas, where like-minded individuals come together to deepen their spiritual journeys and pursue meaningful growth. Together, we cultivate a family grounded in learning, compassion, and a shared commitment to the well-being of all beings.
2) How would you describe the mood of your studio in three words?
Cozy, heartfelt, light
3) What’s the most unique fact around your studio?
The altar in our signature color „living coral“.
4) How does your studio contribute to the local community?
Our studio offers a space for personal growth and spiritual development. We focus on mindfulness, compassion, and connection, creating a welcoming environment where people can come together. In addition to regular yoga classes, we host events, workshops, satsangs, and kirtans to support both physical and mental well-being. Once a month, we organize a special event to deepen our practice. We also invite guest teachers to share their unique perspectives and enrich our community.
5) What do you love most about the Jivamukti Yoga method?
The lineage and spirituality.
6) What is your favorite Jivamukti Yoga sequence and why?
G: Moonrise because there are so many options to play around with.

7) What’s the best feedback you’ve received from a student?
G: The beauty of the space and the quality of teachers. A very extrovert and talkative student told us after taking his very first Open Class that he was so calm that he didn’t feel the urge to speak or make a noise at all for at least one hour – for him that was mind-blowing.
8) What is one piece of advice you have for someone new to Jivamukti Yoga?
Sticking to the method, and teaching that our dear teachers passed to us and keeping practicing and let the journey towards enlightenment begin.

9) What type of classes or events do you offer that are unique to your studio?
Core workout for handstand training. We plan to organize a monthly cozy book club around the old scriptures (Shastra) and enjoying together in our Coffee corner a Chai and homemade oat cookies.
10) Can you share a fun fact about your studio’s history or inception?
Our studio was a bridal shop before we moved in. So love is still in the air. And before that it was a well known dance club. This vivid energy definitely also still flows.

11) What are your future plans or goals for your studio?
We would love to see our community grow and compassion and love to spread all around.Offering more philosophical input, something like a book club. 75HR Jivamukti Teacher Training next year.
12) What do you hope students take away from their experience at your studio?
A feeling of spiritual growth.
13) How do you stay connected with the global Jivamukti Yoga community?
We ourselves try to attend immersions at other studios with other global teachers as often as possible.

14) What is your favorite time of day for your sadhana and why?
Our role model is Ram Dass when he says “My life is my practice“. We try to integrate this as much as we can.
15) What is your favorite vegan recipe?
As a Greek, of course Greek farmers salad with fresh tomatoes, olives, cucumbers and paprika with olive olive and some simple bread.
