VISION
STATEMENT

The Teacher’s Refinement Course (TRC) is a 90 hour course given over a period of 10-14 days, live and online, for Jivamukti teachers who are interested in going over a particular subject with more depth than is possible than when many different subjects are taught simultaneously.

Hence these courses will typically cover two subjects which will be taught by senior teachers based on their specialty of interest. The vision of the course is that by narrowing one’s focus to a smaller amount of material, the vastness of that material can be glimpsed and continue unfolding. It is helpful as teachers, students and practitioners to know a subject well and through that, be it small like a chapter of a scripture or the putting together of an awesome asana class, have a foundation that sheds light on potentially everything that one might wish to know. Therefore, the emphasis of this course will be on refinement and a deeper experienced understanding which will inspire and support one’s ability to communicate the richness and depth of the teachings through relevant and contemporary means. At the end of the course a certificate of participation will be granted.

THE CURRICULUM
  • The curriculum of this training is taking place in 10-14 days.
  • Besides daily meditation and asana practice, the TRC aims to deepen the knowledge and proficiency of Jivamukti teachers in 2-3 subjects that are introduced in the 300-hour Teacher Training.
  • It is to provide you, as a Jivamukti teacher, progression from a strong foundation in a methodology we already understand, embody and all have as a common denominator.
  • There is a strong focus on you teaching your own material and to get feedback from two senior teachers and your peers.
  • There is a component of Karma Yoga and time allotted for homework and collaboration in smaller groups.
  • You will receive a concise manual and a workbook.

The goal is for you to gain a more complete understanding of the elements that constitute the Jivamukti Yoga Method and how to combine them in a way that it is meaningful for your students. This may include:

— how to effectively and succinctly translate teachings from ancient scriptures into a contemporary setting.

— subtleties about choices in sequencing that may just make your class great.

— subtleties in your presence as a teacher, such as tone of voice, level of centeredness, life experience and body language.

— use of rhythm, sound, breath.
