Ananda Moran spent 10 years in New York City where she studied and eventually taught at the Jivamukti Yoga School. She is a graduate of the Jivamukti Teacher Training Program, class of 2000 and received Advanced Certification in 2005. After trying just about every outward avenue in the quest for physical and mental peace, she finally found Jivamukti Yoga in 1992. At the time she suffered from chronic recurrent bronchitis worsened by her stressed out job managing tours of large theatrical productions. Through Yoga practice and a vegan diet she’s been bronchitis free for the last 20 years, and continues to manage large theatrical productions, minus the stress (thanks to Yoga!) as Managing Director of vertical dance company BANDALOOP. She teaches in the classic Jivamukti format, pairing challenging vinyasa sequences with traditional and contemporary spiritual teachings, Sanskrit chanting, meditation and relaxation. She continues the tradition of her gurus Sharon Gannon, David Life and Ruth Lauer Manenti, which emphasizes that Yoga practice leads to liberation. Ananda teaches at San Francisco’s Yoga Tree studio, where she has been on the faculty since 2002. She was honored to serve as a mentor at the JYTT in Costa Rica in 2018.
