Charlotte was first introduced to yoga around age 18, while dealing with anorexia. The practice offered her an experience of embodiment on the mat and kick-started her recovery journey – it was definitely her therapy! Since then, Charlotte has held a special interest in the role of yoga as a practice of healing and repair on all levels of being.
Her thirst for knowledge led her to explore different lineages – Jivamukti, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, Kundalini. In that process, she learned from incredible teachers whose passionate immersion in the tradition has been foundational to her own love of the practice.
In 2015, she completed her 220h KRI level 1 teacher training in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. She followed this with the 300-hr Jivamukti Yoga teacher training led by Anja Kuehnel and Rima Rabbath. In 2018, she became a certified Ayurvedic health counselor. In 2019, she started her 800h Jivamukti apprenticeship program hour with Maria Macaya.
In addition, she specialized in yoga for trauma recovery: she completed different modules offered by Anneke Lucas from Liberation Prison Yoga and Hala Khouri from Off the mat, into the World and spent a year traveling Africa to share this tool with under-resourced communities.
Her classes are equal parts methodical and playful. Intelligent sequencing, uplifting electro-beats, thoughtful reflections on the teachings, and a little hint of whimsy combine to take students deeper into developing a relationship with their own bodies. She aim to inspire them to use their sensory knowledge as guide, instead of relying just on their minds ideas to make their way through the world!
