Ha-Chi Yu was born and raised on the Lower East Side of NYC. She grew up dancing in the parks, sidewalks and theaters of the city, which she has been blessed to be doing in some form ever since. She was a professional ballet dancer in NYC for over 20 years. HaChi is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and serves as facilitator for Jivamukti Yoga® Teacher Training programs. She was the founder and director of LaLaLå! Jivamukti Yoga Los Angeles the first and only Jivamukti Center on the west coast (which sadly closed during pandemic) Ha-Chi is also a certified teacher in Gyrotonic ™, the Pilates method and other movement modalities. Her background as a dancer and teacher has taken her around the world where she has taught master classes at colleges and universities and has performed on many of the world’s finest stages with some of the greatest performing artists of our time. Through strength, intelligence, and fluidity Ha-Chi’s classes focus on the practices as an integration of ancient teachings into our modern day life with relevance, joy and reverence. Ha-Chi is grateful to her holy teachers especially Sharon Gannon and David Life, and her friend and compatriot Jules Febre and all the many others in all their forms.
