Passionate about healthy bodies, relationships, and communities, Maiga Milbourne is in a lifelong engagement with yoga and art. She completed her first vinyasa yoga teacher training at Yogawood, outside of Philadelphia in 2010. After teaching for several years in a range of settings– from festivals to refugee resettlement centers– and to a variety of students, Maiga joined the Jivamukti teacher training in India in 2015. Maiga continues to teach primarily at Yogawood as well as training other teachers in a variety of programs. She has developed 14 international retreats for a variety of teachers and lead 10 domestic and international yoga retreats herself. Maiga co-facilitates Yogawood’s 200 hour vinyasa teacher training program. Active against mass incarceration, Maiga continues work in the Philadelphia area as a political activist. She and her husband are slowly co-creating a permaculture food forest in their suburban backyard. They are happy co-habitants with three rescue cats. Maiga is also a published writer, featured in the Yoga Diaries and online publications like Yoganonymous, MindBodyGreen, Rebelle Society, and Nailed Magazine.
