Co-founder of SOUK Yoga Studio in New York City, Monica Jaggi has been teaching the Jivamukti Yoga method in New York City for over 20 years including 15 years at Jivamukti Yoga School NYC (2004 – 2019).

In Monica’s integration of ancient teachings, alignment, and conscious movement, practitioners experience the vastness of their own innate wisdom. Through a steady, concise, seamless flow of asanas, Monica provides an occasion for students to experience Yoga Asana and Meditation as essential means for self-inquiry and self-transformation.

Named one of the 100 Most Influential Yoga Teachers in America in 2016 by Sonima, Monica engages students with her warm authenticity, sincerity and heartfelt enthusiasm, sharing her deep appreciation for the teachings of Yoga Vedanta & how these teachings reveal themselves in the practice of Yoga Asana.

Background:

Monica was born in New Delhi, India to her Indian father and Italian mother, where she lived until the age of eleven.  After India, Monica lived for some time in Italy before arriving in the United States.  New York City became her home as she pursued her graduate studies at Columbia University, soon after completing her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University.  Monica then worked in the field of International Business Development for the retail sector for several years.

Monica graduated from the Jivamukti Teacher Training Program in 2003.

She now lives in New York City with her husband David. In addition to her cherished teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life,  she is also a student of Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati and the late Joan Suval of Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY.
