In conversation with Jivamukti Yoga Stavanger Studio Founder, Camilla Veen 1) What inspired you to open a Jivamukti Yoga studio? Taking the 300HR Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training in 2003 was life changing for me and it felt like a necessity to open a studio so I could share these magical practices with others. 2) How would you describe the mood of your studio in three words? Welcoming, beautiful, warm. 3) What’s the most unique fact around your studio? We are very close to the sea and so we offer classes in combination with an ocean dip, several times a week. We have also built two different types of saunas that are opening soon.

My teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life, and preserving the method for the next generation. 2) How would you describe the mood of your studio in three words? Energetic, artistic, traditional 3) What’s the most unique fact around your studio? We are a school housed within an existing Yoga and wellbeing centre called Satyam. Our method is supported and well-established within the existing studio so opening the school was the next step. We have added more classes on our timetable to the already existing ones in Cambridge .

Our deep passion for the transformative and creative method of Jivamukti Yoga, combined with the desire to build a school in central Europe where there can be a vivid exchange of inspirations and build a network, inspired us to open a Jivamukti studio. After five years, it’s beautiful to see so many students participating in teacher training and sharing our passion for Jivamukti.The intention behind this practice led us to aim to create a space where Yoga is shared as an expression of kindness, compassion, and connectedness. 2) How would you describe the mood of your studio in three words? Light, supportive and with a deep sense of community.

A strong Jivamukti community exists here in Bern and we wanted to make sure there was a space for that community to call home. 2) How would you describe the mood of your studio in three words? Herzlich, (heart filled), sincere, kind. 3) What’s the most unique fact around your studio? It is located in a UNESCO world heritage site, in a vaulted cellar in the old town of Bern.
